Exact age and origin is not known, but most likely from the Victorian era, circa 1860 - 1880. Perfect for a bride or wedding. Measurements: Length, not including wires is approximately 2 1/2 inches (7.5cm). Weight is 13.0 grams.
Large upper pearls were measured as 5.30 X 5.16mm and 5.70 X 5.49mm respectively. Description : The upper, largest pearls were tested by the GIA (see picture of certificate). GIA certificate identifies pearls as natural, salt-water with no indication of treatment, semi-baroque buttons, cream bodycolor with orient overtones. Upper section is an inverted heart with a concave inverted horse-shoe at the bottom set with natural pearls held in high carat gold mounts, details with rope-twist border and flowing ribbons of gold with very fine beaded tops.
Larger pearls are surrounded by small pearl detail. Substantial gold links connect to the drops, which are built in the same way with winding gold mounts, small pearls around larger pearls and dangling pearl drops that swing as the wearer moves. The entire large bottom section moves independantly of the surmounts.
Largest pearls in the centers of the drops appear to be bigger than the ones measured by the GIA. Gold wire fittings are inserted from the back of the ear in typical Victorian fashion, a hint at the date of the earrings. Earrings are very beautiful, elegant and versatile, being suitable for both a bride and regular day wear.
Marks and Metal: No marks. We acid tested the gold which is at least 18k. Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer. Add Me to Your Favorite Sellers.
