If you are reading this listing you are most likely aware or have heard of how powerful genuine Moldavite energy is but I wanted to include this "semi-warning" when using it. You do not need to be highly sensitive to crystals in general to feel it's power, just hold and tune into it briefly and you'll instantly feel the hair raise on the back of your neck. Moldavite is exceptionally rare as it is only found in the "strewn" field regions in and amongst the borders of the Czech Republic, it is found nowhere else in the world. Beautifully etched, carved, wrinkled or sculpted patterns inherent in raw and unpolished stones due to the molten splatter cooling after the violent impact.

The Chlum mine in Czechoslovakia is the only legally owned mine currently still operating and producing Moldavite. The vast majority of it is believed to have already been discovered.

Moldavite is classified as an extremely rare form of tektite. Tektites are formed when a meteorite violently collides with Earth causing natural terrestrial debris dirt, stone etc.

At such an intense velocity that it throws off molten material which cools into a glass. In general tektites are black or brown, but Moldavite is a beautiful delicate green glass that means it's also wonderful to be faceted and used in fine jewellery which is very rare with other varieties of tektites seen on Earth. It has the natural craters, air pockets and unique etchings that is always seen in any genuine moldavite specimen - like snowflakes every piece is completely unique with no two being the same. This particular moldavite is a very sweet little free form piece. I think that moldavite such as this adorable piece is wonderful to wear in a cage style pendant so that it is not damaged or drilled and can actually be taken out of the cage to use in energy work.

You can even open the cage and swap another crystal to place in it, it's such a versatile piece. The lattice work style of the cage allows you to still see the moldavite while also keeping it safely inside with a clever catch so you can't lose it.

This moldavite is an pretty bottle-green colour with a translucent quality. The surface of this piece is truly fascinating and other-worldly.

Fakes start at obvious imitations that are shiny glass with a knobbly surface and flat backs, to actual casts taken of of genuine Moldavites where a mould is made and the person making the fake just pours molten green glass into the mould which can be harder to spot as a fake to the unwary. The best rule to go by in my opinion is that genuine pieces do not have a silky glassy shine or texture, they are usually lightly rougher in texture. There are a number of good websites that can be searched for which I'd recommend to help to learn how to best to spot a fake.

This beautiful stone is rare, found only in Czechoslovakia, and is named for the area in which it is found, near the Moldau River (called the Vltava in Czech).
